Grand Canal Harbour, the Lock Mills, and the Canal Brewery
Date: 1757-1960

As part of a european MMIAH Project (Military Maritime, Industrial, Atlantic Heritage), an Interreg EU funded programme recording the shared maritime and cultural tradition of the Atlantic coast, Limerick City and County Council is restoring the former Canal Manager's Building at Lock Quay.

Today, the Canal Harbour and the Park Canal is a popular recreation amenity, a shared walkway and cycleway linking the city with the course of the Old River Shannon.

John Elliott will bring you on a virtual tour of the Canal Harbour area, formerly the terminus of the extensive Inland Navigation System in Ireland. He will highlight the lost industrial and maritime landscape of the site, which included the Grand Canal Harbour, the Lock Mills, and the Canal Brewery.
